Patterns of Labour and Life

When B.C. artist Sybil Andrews passed by a window of a cafe near her Campbell River home on Vancouver Island, she saw more than four men simply having a cup of coffee. “It made an exciting picture.”

So begins an article about printmaker Sybil Andrews (1898 – 1992) in the Winter 2008 issue of “Our Times.”   Andrews’ early artistic and political influences in Britain are recalled, followed by a description of Andrews’ new life after emigrating to Canada with her husband Walter Morgan.   Former art students and community members of Campbell River, active in preserving the Andrews-Morgan home, are also interviewed.
